Citi’s parental leave policy has restarted the discussion around parental leave within the workplace, establishing the standards for the kind of accommodations employees can expect. The Citi leave policy update sent out to employees states that all new parents will have 16 weeks of paid leave to care for their kids and an additional 8 weeks will be available for birth parents to recover from the process. The updated Citigroup employee benefits go into effect immediately for workers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and it is a substantial step forward in improving the relationship between employer and employee.
